Cinderella Projects

1.  Check out and read:  CinderHazel at your school or local library.  It is also available at www.amazon.com and other retailers.

1.      2.    Break students into groups of four to five and have them read Cinderhazel by Deborah Nourse Lattimore aloud.

2.   3.     Do “Story Connectors” activities.  Talk about what happened in the story.  What makes a good beginning, a good middle and a good ending?  Make transparencies of Story Connections and work as a group with you class to fill in the boxes.   Talk about answers, give students a chance to write and then ask for suggestions.  Fill out each box after you allow time for students to do the same.  This allows for slower students or those who need extra help to complete the assignment with you – while more advanced students can work on their own.

3.    4.    Discuss and complete “Math Connectors”.

4.   5.    Art Link – after reading the story together – divide students into groups or pairs, hand out extra large paper or pieces of butcher paper and paints and have students illustrate the beginning, middle and end based on their “Story Connections” sheets.
