Vocabulary

The vocabulary listed below is from the chapter "Filling the Ice House" in the novel Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  It is part of Book 2 Unit 4 in the Open Court Third Grade Reading Text or can be found in any library or bookstore.

NOTE: The only places there are syllable breaks in the pronunciation of the words below are spaces that contain a "-" all other breaks are to help you say the words.

bobsled -- say it (bob - sled)

crinkled -- say it (cr ing - kld)

trudged -- say it (tr uh - gd)

thrash -- say it (th rash)

laprobes -- say it (lap - robes)

mound -- say it (mound rhymes with sound) say it (mound)

tamped -- tam rhymes with dam and you add a p and an -ed.  Say it -- (tam pt)

crevice -- vice rhymes with Chris.  Say it (cr ev - is)
