Information
The sun is the star closest to Earth. The sun is much larger than Earth. It looks small only because it is far away.
The sun is made of hot gases. The gases are so hot, they give off light and heat. Light and heat are kinds of energy because they can cause change and do work.
Most living things on Earth use solar energy, or light and heat from the sun. Plants use the sun's light to make food. Animals and people use its light to see in the daytime. The sun's heat warms water, land, air and all living things on Earth.
STOP AND THINK! What does the sun look like where you live?
